14th Annual Understanding and Managing Pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT for the Allied Professional
September 24 - 26, 2010
Minneapolis Hilton
Minneapolis, MN

Course Description:

For 14 years, this intensive three-day course has provided allied health professionals with the knowledge and updated information they need to manage all aspects of pacemakers, ICDs and CRT systems. Led by world renowned cardiologist, author, and educator David L. Hayes, MD, Understanding and Managing Pacemakers, ICDs and CRT for the Allied Professional helps nurses, nurse practitioners, technicians, physicians, physician assistants and fellows understand overall electrophysiology concepts and answer specific questions. Additionally, this program offers the opportunity for “hands-on” use of programming equipment from various device manufacturers.

What past attendees are saying:

“I absolutely loved Dr. Hayes’ talks - funny, entertaining, very informative, can’t wait ‘till the next one.”

“Excellent conference. Will highly recommend to colleagues.”

“...touches on the fundamentals. As a nurse, I may not always know where to start with the devices. [This course} made it so easy to understand.”

From the science and technology to bedside application, participants leave the program with state-of-the-art knowledge to manage all implantable device therapy including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT).

Educational Objectives:

To keep you engaged, your course faculty, fellow physicians and allied professionals with expertise in clinical pacing, ICDs, and device therapy for congestive heart failure, offer a variety of didactic lectures, workshops, and patient demonstrations. At the conclusion of this educational activity, you will be able to:

1. Interpret paced electrocardiograms through didactic lectures and workshops of progressive levels of difficulty

2. Provide information on all aspects of programming, troubleshooting and managing pacemakers, ICDs and CRT systems

3. Provide an approach for comprehensive follow-up of the patient with a permanent pacemaker, ICD or CRT

4. Understand the potential effect of EMI on implantable devices

5. Provide an understanding of the basics of congestive heart failure and the role of CRT in management

Cardiac Pacing and Defibrillation: A Clinical Approach, 2nd Edition
